Kolber was born in Pennsylvania and graduated with a Master's degree from University of Miami. Her professional career began as the Video Coordinator at CBS Sports, New York City. While working at WTVJ-TV, Miami, she received a Sports Emmy. Other jobs she held included WPLG-TV Miami as well as WPEC-TV West Palm Beach. The station hired her as an anchor for ESPN2 at the beginning of 1993. The station was her home for ESPN2 for three years before leaving it to join Fox Sports.
